News for expats on COVID-19 - update 22.05.2020
As we announced yesterday, the “Comunidad Valenciana” will stay in phase 1 for one week more before passing to phase 2 with more certainty on the 1st of June, because they believe that it would be a catastrophe to take a step back, especially for the tourism industry.
The Government, is preparing a document with recommendations to open the beaches this summer with unusual measures, but very necesarry to prevent the virus from spreading. The idea is to create a satisfactory plan for everyone with the different municipalities. Going to the beach this year is expected to be completely different and there will be probably controls to allow limited capacity on each beach and also there will be many controls to ensure compliance with the safety measures. As more information comes out about this item, we will as usual inform you on this blog.
Several ministers are still speaking that the beginning of July will start the initial phase to allow foreign tourists into Spain. However, it is emphasized that the evolution of the virus will prevail.
The borders are still closed to tourism and we would like to remind once again that persons who may enter in Spain from other countries are Spaniards or residents who have their principal residence in Spain and that they are obliged to keep quarantine at home for 15 days.
As the latest news today we would like to inform that it has been published today in the BOE (state bulletin) that in villages/towns with less then 10.000 inhabitants, timetables to go out has been cancelled and one can go out now between 6 am and 11 pm in any age group, but always keeping the social distance of 2 meters and the obliged safety regulations.
