News for expats on COVID-19 - update 13.05.2020
The Ministry of Interior has announced in the state-bulletin BOE that border controles will be extended on the 15th of May until the 24th of May, by land, air or sea. It will continue with the same existing rules, therefore access to Spain is only allowed for the Spanish citizens, residents, cross-border workers and health workers.
Simply owning a house in Spain, does not mean that you are a resident and you must be able to prove that it is your principal residence.
The Ministry of Health has announced in the state-bulletin BOE that people coming from abroad, must keep 14 days of quarantine on arrival and must comply with all the security measures. This measure will be in effect as long as the country is in the state of emergency.
The European Commission will present today a package of recommendations, to revitalize tourism in Europe. The idea is to lift restrictions in EU Member States very slowly and in different phases. The European Commission wants to be very clear and states that in no case should one be imprudent, since the virus is still here.
